Picking the right kitchen paint colors not only depends on the cabinet, counter-top and floor finishes but on the overall look you are after. The color of the wall will drastically change the appearance of a kitchen regardless of the types of surfaces used. Choosing a dark color will bring in a very different mood then a light and bright color.

Start off by finding all the colors you love. Perhaps you have already done this in other rooms in the house. Pull out your Color Finder chart and find your favorite colors. From there narrow down the selection to two or three colors. Make sure to get samples of each color either the swatches or buy some of the testers and paint part of the wall or a small art canvas that you can place in the kitchen.

Make sure to see the kitchen paint colors in different light settings and different hours of the day. You want something that looks inviting in the morning and also something that is attractive in the evening under your kitchen lights.

Finally, go with your gut, pick your kitchen paint color and get it up. If all else fails as with all paint selection it can be undone usually for a small price of another gallon of paint.

Many people spend hours in or around the kitchen each day. So be adventurous with your kitchen paint colors creating something fun and inspiring for when you are making the kids sandwiches or if you are throwing a dinner party.

Color Finder interior design is all about using the Color Finder to bring your interior design to a new level. Make sure your paint works with the fabrics and the decorations in the room. Here are 3 reasons why we think using Color Finder interior design in your next space works.

    Setting the Mood

Setting the mood with color is all about understanding how each color affects those in the space. I like to make a kitchen feel light and bright. Especially if you enjoy being in the kitchen cooking a lot.  Most cooks want to have lots of lighting and bright cheerful colors. Creating a romantic master bedroom, try warmer colors that can set the mood with dim lighting at night for a relaxing retreat.

    Make the Space Yours

Interior design isnt just about what is trendy. Consider your favorite colors and then go from there. Understanding the complimentary and contrasting colors can allow you to take your favorite color and build a palette of colors for your space. From interior paint colors to the upholstery of your sofa to the rug. These items need to tie together through the use of a cohesive color scheme that you get by using the Color Finder. By using your favorite colors the space will feel more like yours and most likely more comfortable for you.

    Inspire Others

Have you ever walked into a room and just been inspired by the space? When you take color and use it in your interior design correctly you can inspire those that come into your space. From generating conversation to creating excitement a properly designed space can allow for a more vibrant dining room for better parties or a living room that all your guests love. What is better than designing something that in turn inspires someone else to go out and try to design their own perfect space.

Keep learning about the Color Finder and the way color affects moods and you will be using the Color Finder interior design in your next room design.

We are planning some upcoming interior design projects and wanted to find some inspiration and see what some ideas looked like. Well rather than buy some furniture, paint and reupholster and then realize we didnt like the look we turned to Google Images and Flickr to search for completed projects.

When painting a bathroom you need to consider several key factors. Additionally you will also need to consider your personal tastes.

Determine Size of Bathroom to Paint

Determining the size of the bathroom you are preparing to paint is important. A small 2-piece bathroom requires different painting than if you were painting a grand master suite bathroom.

    Small Bathroom Paint

A smaller 2-piece bathroom might call for lighter paint to make the room feel larger and less like a small cave. Consider horizontal or vertical striping with two shades of the same color or a soft blue and a neutral tan.

    Medium Bathroom Paint

In a medium sized bathroom, probably a shared bath with 1 sink, a toilet and a shower-tub, you have more freedom. You can go light or dark here depending on windows, lighting choices and colors of tiles or cabinets already in place. You want to find a good balance to not be all dark or all bright. If your bathroom is being used by kids consider a bathroom with brighter colors to energize and be youthful.

    Master Bathroom Paint

In a master bathroom paint can be used to set a romantic or spa like mood. This is your chance to create an escape for yourself or your client. Again you have the entire Color Finder to pick your paint colors from in a large bathroom.

    Best Paint for Bathrooms

Make sure when buying your bathroom paint that you ask the store associate for the best finish and brand. Some lines offer more moisture controls to protect against mold and mildew in a high moisture room like a bathroom.

    Choosing Your Color

There is no right or wrong color for a bathroom. The bathroom paint should connect to the surrounding spaces so that you feel like you have a cohesive home. However light or dark, warm or cold, neurtal or bold, your bathroom paint can be any color you choose. Consider your cabinet and surface finishes then find coordinating colors that you enjoy. This is a space you and your guests will use regularly. Once you find the predominant color you want grab your friendly Color Finder to start finding complimentary or contrasting colors to finish off the decorating with fabrics or flowers in your bathroom.

The use of flowers in decorating is the perfect way to add fresh lively color to any space. This image below, Kelly Gunether, demonstrates exactly how flowers and plants can take a clean room and add an amazing splash of color to liven the room up.

From the bold and the beautiful, to the washed out and sun-bleached, I LOVE COLOR.  Perhaps more than any other design principle, color guides my choices and can easily dictate the overall feel of an entire floral event.
